Chart of shame lists slow payers

The first league table charting the time every single UK public limited company takes to pay its bills will be launched this week in an effort to shame those companies that delay so long in paying suppliers they place some at risk of going bust.

The Institute of Credit Management, which will release the tables at its annual conference on Thursday, said the issue of payment times would become increasingly important for business as the economy slowed.
