Foreign exchange trading accelerates

Foreign exchange trading volumes surged 36 per cent from 2006 to 2007, research has found, continuing a steady run of growth that has transformed the currencies markets.

Data from Greenwich Associates, which interviewed 1,780 institutions active in the FX markets, showed that trading volumes climbed to $99,000bn in 2007 from $71,000bn in 2006.
