It could be a module in a post-graduate public policy degree: what should be the correct relationship between universities and employers; and why?
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (Dius) has come up with one answer. It believes the relationship needs to be closer than it is now. In a confidential paper, seen by the FT, it argues that English universities which increase co-operation with businesses should get the bulk of extra resources over the next three years.
