Computer Associates names IBM veteran chief

Computer Associates, the scandal-hit software company, ended its seven-month search for a chief executive with the appointment of John Swainson, a veteran manager from IBM.

CA has become a symbol of improper accounting and excessive executive pay. The company has been without a permanent CEO since April, when Sanjay Kumar was stripped of the title amid allegations of accounting malpractice and fraud.
