Italian and Dutch police have seized Giuseppe Nirta, one of Italy’s most wanted Mafia suspects and alleged cocaine cartel boss, in a combined operation in Amsterdam on Sunday, police sources said on Monday.
Mr Nirta, 35, is wanted in Italy on charges of narcotics trafficking and had been on the run for 10 years. He was allegedly head of a powerful clan of the Calabrian Mafia, known as the ‘Ndrangheta, from the village of San Luca. His wife, Aurelia, and two of her sisters—all three from the Strangio family – were also arrested, Ansa, an Italian news agency reported.
