Gas supply expected to resume flow today

Russian gas could flow again to the European Union early today, officials said, after Russia and Ukraine moved to contain a dispute that has disrupted supplies to millions of people.

"If there are no obstacles - and we don't foresee any obstacles - gas shipments will be started from Russia to Ukraine at 8 o'clock [central European time]," Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom's deputy chief executive, said in Brussels yesterday.
