Friends Provident appoints CFO from rival

Trevor Matthews celebrated his 100th day in the job as chief executive of Friends Provident, the struggling insurer, by recruiting a former Standard Life colleague to the board as chief financial officer.

Evelyn Bourke replaces Charles Bellringer, who became interim CFO following the departure in August of Jim Smart.
