Europe’s shoppers go online for Christmas

Western Europe’s consumers are preparing for an online Christmas shopping spree, but there is a large divergence between southern and northern Europeans.

Internet users in western Europe will spend €51bn ($72.9bn, £35.6bn) in the run-up to Christmas with the UK maintaining its lead as the continent’s biggest online spender, according to forecasts by Forrester Research due to be published on Tuesday.
