Treasury to act on annuities loophole

The government looks set to water down freedoms introduced in April that allow investors to avoid purchasing an annuity with their pension in a bid to curb apparent investor abuse.

The Treasury has confirmed it is considering “concrete action” to stop “a small and wealthy minority” from benefiting “substantially from tax advantages” of Alternatively Secured Pensions.
