MPs keep heat on Blair over departure

Labour MPs demanding a clear timetable for Tony Blair?s departure from office on Monday kept up the pressure on the prime minister.

Party officials said there was a strong show of support for Mr Blair from a loyal majority of MPs at a meeting of the parliamentary Labour party on Monday night. But speaking ahead of the meeting, some backbenchers warned the issue would not go away until the prime minister agreed a handover date with Gordon Brown.
