Brown plan for pact on pay questioned

Gordon Brown’s call for a global agreement to curb excessive bank bonuses met with a sceptical response on Friday, as critics questioned whether the prime minister’s proposal would have any practical effect.

Mr Brown told the Scottish Labour party conference in Dundee that the UK would be seeking a deal on bank remuneration at next month’s Group of 20 summit of world leaders.
