The founder and chief executive of General Maritime Corporation has indicated that he would only be interested in a merger with Frontline Tankers, the world's largest tanker operator, if it paid heavily in cash.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Peter Georgiopoulos, also said his last contact with Frontline had been last month when Frontline announced an increase in its General Maritime stake beyond 5 per cent. Frontline has since reduced its stake.
