Eight killed in Armenian opposition protests

Armenia imposed a state of emergency on Sunday after the authorities cracked down on thousands of protesters demanding the annulment of a presidential election they said was rigged.

Eight people were killed and 33 policemen injured during a violent clash with police in the early hours of Saturday in Yerevan, the capital.
