Strong pricing power helped Dow Chemical Company beat Wall Street expectations on Thursday with a 30 per cent increase in third-quarter profits.

Sales volumes were flat, however, a trend Dow blamed on disruptions from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which hobbled production along the US Gulf Coast.
