Brewers oppose beer tax proposals

Japan's beer industry association is lobbying against a government tax move set to hit growing sales of a new, non-malt beer-like beverage.

The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LPD) is considering a sharp reduction in the number of liquor taxation categories from 10 to four in an effort to close taxation loopholes.
