Congress edges near deal with India's Marxists

India's ruling Congress party is believed to be edging closer to a rapprochement with Marxist parties in an effort to secure a parliamentary majority after the general election.

The move, which follows a falling out between the parties over a civil nuclear energy deal with the US last year, came as Congress held a flurry of meetings with potential coalition partners ahead of the release of the election results tomorrow.
