General Michel Suleiman, Lebanon’s army chief, emerged on Wednesday as the new frontrunner to take the country’s vacant presidency.

Politicians from the ruling anti-Syrian March 14 bloc said they had changed their position on Gen Suleiman, whom they had originally rejected.
