Latin America: Sustainable growth is the key to stability

Latin American leaders have become fond of saying their region has “decoupled” from the developed world.

They argue that structural reforms put in place over the past 15 years have made their economies much less vulnerable to external shocks such as the Russian and Asian crises of the late 1990s, which caused havoc across the region.
