It was a day for sweeping statements. Presiding over the inauguration of what could become the symbol of India's infrastructure revival - Mumbai's "Sea Link" bridge - Sonia Gandhi, the head of India's ruling Congress party, said the structure was the first of more to come.
"We want to make Mumbai an international financial centre," she said, swiping a toll card and strolling on to the bridge.
