Canada tightens carbon rules for oil sands

Canada’s has unveiled new regulations seeking to control the carbon emissions from Alberta’s oil sands fields and says they ”will apply to all big industry”.

The proposed regulations will see oil sands facilities and coal-fired power plants beginning operation from 2012 having to meet rules requiring them to capture and store the majority of their carbon dioxide emissions.
