Bank of England governor Mervyn King might feel like he is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as he grapples with confidence concerns of UK's mortgage banks.

When his term comes up for renewal early next year he could decide to join the former Bank of England deputy governor Sir Andrew Large in life on the outside.
