The head of Sanofi-Aventis is seeking to buy more generic drugs companies as part of broader acquisition plans to seek full control rather than the partnerships favoured by a number of his peers.
Chris Viehbacher, the chief executive appointed late last year to run the Paris-based pharmaceutical group, also expressed interest in expanding its consumer and animal health divisions, and said he had no intention of following the growing industry practice of outsourcing manufacturing.
