Israel on Thursday stepped up its military campaign in Lebanon, launching air strikes against Beirut airport, imposing a naval blockade, and intensifying reprisals that have killed up to 50 civilians since Hizbollah fighters seized two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday.
Israel launched six rockets at the runways of Rafik al-Hariri International Airport in Beirut, forcing aircraft to divert and the airport to close, Lebanese security services said. It also fired a missile at Hizbollah’s Al-Manar television station in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital, wounding six people.
