Caterpillar and Navistar are in talks with China’s largest exporter of light trucks to create a joint venture in the country to manufacture the vehicles.

The deal with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Company will give Caterpillar, the world’s largest maker of construction equipment, and Navistar, the US truck maker, a foothold in China’s fast growing commercial vehicle market.
