With an average team sponsorship deal costing $4.3m, F1 has one of the highest barriers to entry of any sport. This makes it tough to drive high multiples of return on investment, with every dollar spent on leverage adding to the expense. But low cost with rich reward in motorsport is not an oxymoron.
Getting a Super Licence is the ticket for a driver to enter F1 and it takes some doing. They must have driven an F1 car at racing speeds for 300km within a two day period, or they can finish in the top four of GP2, F1’s feeder series.
