Brussels to drain wine lake

Europe’s wine lake should be drained within five years under reforms agreed on Wednesday aimed at equipping the industry to compete with New World imports.

After almost three days of talks capping 18 months of debate, EU farm ministers agreed to end the buying up of unwanted stocks and modernise labelling laws and winemaking practices.
