Pensioners fail to claim £2bn

More pensioners are claiming the means-tested pension credit but hundreds of millions of pounds to which they are entitled still go unclaimed, the Commons public accounts committee said yesterday.

Measures to encourage take-up have made good progress, the committee said, but up to 1.6m pensioners, or a third of the target population, still do not claim money to which they are entitled.
