Brent price peaks amid Iran tensions

Crude oil futures on Thursday rose to a nine-month high after the head of the UN nuclear watchdog warned that Iran was within three to eight years of having the ability to make nuclear weapons.

Mohamed ElBaradei, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said Iran’s uranium enrichment programme was expanding and that the IAEA’s knowledge of those activities was shrinking – a finding that might trigger new UN sanctions.
