Britannia votes to merge with Co-operative Financial Services

Members of Britannia Building Society on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly in favour of merging with Co-operative Financial Services to create a super mutual in spite of opposition from some customers.

The UK’s second largest building society voted to merge with Co-operative, which owns internet bank Smile, at the annual general meeting in Birmingham that was attended by 600 people.
