Obama orders cabinet to deliver $100m cuts

Barack Obama used his first cabinet meeting as president on Monday to promise action against wasteful spending as Congress prepared to resume debate over his $3,600bn budget.

In a move intended to signal commitment to fiscal responsibility, Mr Obama ordered cabinet members to deliver $100m of cuts within the next 90 days.
