Charities worse off after the Budget

Charities are big losers from the Budget, with the sector calculating it may be at least £70m a year out of pocket after income tax changes.

The two pence cut in the basic rate means the Treasury will refund 25p for every pound donated by a basic rate taxpayer, under its gift aid scheme, rather than 28p.
