Terry Burns appointed as Channel 4 chairman

Lord Burns, the former permanent secretary of the Treasury and chairman of Abbey National, was confirmed on Thursday as the new chairman of Channel 4.

A spokesman for Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, which has responsibility for the appointment, said that because there was a vacancy on the broadcaster’s board, Lord Burns would join immediately as chairman-designate.
