A truck laden with explosives caused a huge explosion outside Islamabad’s Marriott Hotel late Saturday evening killing at least 50 people and injuring more than 200, according to Pakistani rescue workers and the police.

Security experts said the death toll was likely to rise, with 20 to 50 victims said to be in critical condition. Unconfirmed local television reports put the death toll between 60 and 80 people.
