Brown delays ‘next steps’ document

Gordon Brown has postponed plans to publish on Monday a “next steps” plan for Labour’s last months in office before the election, as ministers try to rustle up new ideas to revive his administration.

Mr Brown on Friday convened a three-hour cabinet meeting to discuss the initiative – dubbed “Building Britain’s Future” – which he hopes will provide the government with new momentum.
