Clampdown on temps tax relief

The “widespread abuse” of a £300m ($575m) tax break for some temporary workers is under attack by the Treasury, which is considering reversing a concession for travel expenses it introduced 10 years ago.

This is its latest effort to close tax loopholes affecting temporary workers, amid fears that anomalies are leading to unfairness, growing tax avoidance, exploitation of workers and the “casualisation” of the workforce.
