Turkey has cancelled a tender to build the country’s first nuclear power station, despite pressure from Moscow to accept the sole bid from a consortium led by the Russian groups Inter Rao and Atomstroyexport.

Turkey’s state-run power company Tetas gave no reason for the cancellation, announced in a statement on its website on Friday. But the decision comes shortly after a court ruled arrangements on pricing and the plant’s location were invalid.
