Carrefour chief firm over property

Lars Olofsson, Carrefour’s chief executive vowed he would only sell property to make a big strategic acquisition, in spite of the ambitions of activist shareholders to unlock the value of its real estate portfolio.

“If I needed to finance a very interesting acquisition to enhance our business, I could consider it, otherwise it’s off the agenda,” Mr Olofsson said, as Europe’s biggest retailer on Friday confirmed full-year profit and cost targets set in June.
