Mothercare gets international boost

Mothercare, the mother and baby products chain, outperformed a difficult retail sector to double profits in the first half of the year.

Rapid international expansion, a growing internet business and cost savings from integrating the newly acquired Early Learning Centre chain helped Mothercare record a 9 per cent increase in sales and a more than doubling of pre-tax profit to £13.7m.
