Sportech‘s chief executive said it would continue to invest in its collector football pools service for older customers even though it expected player numbers from this age group to keep on falling.

Ian Penrose said 25 per cent of players continued to have their pools coupons collected weekly by a team of 7,500 collectors. These players tended to be in their sixties, paid £2 a week and came from the north of England and Scotland.
