Bernanke’s style builds political capital

Ben Bernanke’s political stock is rising – a development that could help him push through the changes he wants to make at the Federal Reserve, including the adoption of a flexible inflation target.

At Thursday’s hearing of the House financial services committee, Barney Frank, the Democratic chairman who raised eyebrows this year by pledging more robust oversight of the Fed, declared himself pleased with Mr Bernanke.
