Former Chilean dictator Pinochet dies

General Augusto Pinochet, the former dictator of Chile who ruled the Andean country for 17 years, has died in a Santiago hospital a week after suffering a heart attack. He was 91.

Gen Pinochet’s death brings to a close one of the most controversial chapters in recent Latin American history.
