Social lenders go where banks fear to tread

In a few months the Thames will carry some unusual traffic: a high-tech floating “rubbish muncher” that will scoop up plastic bottles and other detritus.

The contraption is being designed by Belu, a bottled water company co-founded four years ago by Reed Paget, a US documentary film-maker.
