LDP to help Japan’s new rulers

Leaders of Japan’s defeated Liberal Democratic party on Wednesday agreed to share information with the new ruling Democratic party on pressing policy issues including the status of current and planned state budgets.

The commitment from the LDP-led administration should help the DPJ, which won a landslide victory in general elections at the weekend, to start detailed preparations for sweeping budget revisions needed if it is to meet many of its generous but only vaguely funded campaign promises.
