European equity capital markets hit $20bn record

A run of large share sales in the last few days has given European equity capital markets their best ever January, even though stock markets have begun the year sluggishly.

Share offerings and convertibles worth $20.6bn have taken place this month, comfortably exceeding last January's $11.9bn, according to Dealogic.
