Albanian Democratic party set for second term

Albania’s right-of-centre Democratic Party is set for a second four-year term after a Socialist opposition splinter group agreed to join a coalition government in the wake of a tightly contested election.

The Democrat coalition is assured of 74 seats in the 140-member parliament following a deal with the Socialist Movement for Integration, led by Ilir Meta, a former prime minister.
