Merkel unveils new coalition

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, on Saturday unveiled her new government’s coalition agreement, promising to cut taxes by €24bn in order to boost economic growth.

Presenting the 124-page coalition contract, Ms Merkel also confirmed a range of new ministerial appointments, including Wolfgang Schaeuble, the experienced Christian Democratic politician and fiscal conservative, as finance minister.
