Currencies in emerging markets suffer

A growing realisation that global financial turmoil threaten developed and developing economies has provoked an eruption of volatility in emerging market currencies.

The South Korean won and the Turkish lira were the main casualties on Thursday, as countries sporting large current account deficits were punished.
