Merkel concern over N-plant closures

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, on Tuesday cast doubt on the wisdom of her country’s plan to phase out nuclear power in the light of this week’s closure by ­Russia of the Druzhba oil pipeline.

In a television interview, she said it was necessary for Germany “not to become unilaterally dependent on one [energy] supplier”.
