Chinese airport talks break down

Talks between Hong Kong's airport and rival Chinese hubs have run into difficulties, making it unlikely that Hong Kong will clinch equity alliances with Shenzhen and Zhuhai airports before its planned privatisation in 2006.

Failure to secure a tie-up with two of its strongest rivals on the lucrative China routes would deepen investor fears over rising competition before the $6bn planned listing of the territory's airport.
