Toughing it out in the travel industry

Barry Diller sits at the edge of his office window and looks out at Manhattan. “People say the entertainment business is rough,” he frowns. “But the travel business has plenty of tough, hardened customers.”

The former head of Paramount Studios and Fox TV is pondering a question about relations between IAC/InterActiveCorp, his conglomerate of 43 internet businesses, and the hotel companies whose rooms the group sells.
